Electronic waste is a type of waste that includes electronic and electric devices and equipment like computers, printers, scanners, mobile devices, household items etc. This waste is far more dangerous than communal waste because it includes heavy metals and other chemical and toxic substances. This is the reason why disposal of electronic waste or e-waste in landfills is not an option. While it is true that only one device might not cause some catastrophic effects for the environment, it is also true that thousands of these devices are left in landfills every day. When they are together they can cause a lot of damage. Landfills are primarily used for organic waste that can easily decompose. It takes hundreds of years for electronic waste to decompose completely, but before that the heavy metals and other dangerous materials will penetrate the soil, enter the water and reach the air causing massive pollution that will affect not only those who leave around those landfills, but everyone else.
